Morley Road Park

Our park is popular with local families even though the play area needs urgent renovation. It consists of 4 swings and 2 small metal climbing frames. We would like a modular climbing unit and balance bars to appeal to a larger cross section of ages.

My kids spend a lot of time in the park. However they currently prefer scrubbing around in the bushes around the edge of the park, to playing in the playground because they are too old to imagine the climbing frame is a rocket, or to be pushed on the swing, so there isn't anything for them in the playground. It would be great to add some new equipment for them and their friends to play on so they don't have to hang around in the bushes all the time!

Morley Park is fantastic community park lacking in the fundamental play equipment that graces even the worst play areas. Local children (I have two) would benefit enormously from much improved equipment as would the community as a whole. I urge you to support this cause.

Morley Road park is in a great residential location. The park itself is used for occassional sport at the weekends, dog walkers and bike riders. Unfortunatly, the playground is hardly used as there are only a few pieces of equipment - swings and 2 climbing frames which are quite old and unsafe. Its quite a depressing area as well. If it is refurbished, there is no doubt that it would be used so much more as there are so many children living close by plus there are 2 schools within in walking distance. It would be lovely to see it being used properly. With two small children, we would definitely use it. It would save having to walk further a field across busy main roads to other playgrounds. Please condsider this as a refurbishment is desparatly needed!

This park is a great community spot, everyone has access to it - schools, residents and people use it for a picninc spot in the summer. It's a shame that the 3 pieces of play equipment look like a set from a post-apocalyptic film. The quality is awful and prety depressing. It's a lovely central place that could be made very popular with children and families instead of just the occasional dog walker.

Around 800 primary school children walk by or near this park every day because there are two large primary schools very close by! This is the closest park to the schools yet it is so run down that it is usually virtually deserted .... it is so sad to see when it could be alive with children having fun. Instead my son and his friends go home and watch TV. It would be so lovely if it was near the standard of other parks in our town which are so well visited and I would be so happy if my son chose to go to the park after school!

Also, to let you know that our local council, Waverley Borough Council, had planned to renovate this play area in 2012/13 but this plan has now been scrapped due to budget cut backs.

We have heard that play areas can be removed altogether if they become dangerous or if there are no funds to maintain it. The local community would love this play area to be renovated - it would be well-loved and well-used for many, many years.

This park is surrounded by houses with young families and is particularly popular in the summer. A renovated playground would make such a difference to the local community and increase the enjoyment of so many - adults and children alike.

In an area full of young families, a nice childrens play area is much needed!

My husband is in his 40's, and he can't see much in this play area that has changed since he was a child.

Morley Road Park deserves a nice play area.

The park is a fantastic place for families to go, even though there is really very little to amuse the children. The playground is better than nother, but not by very much. The changes made to the small park at the end of Searle Road show what a difference these ares make to the local community. All 4 of my children learnt to ride their bikes there, but the playground is in such a state, their desire to do anything but go there is poretty obvious.

This park is in a great spot, but the children's play area feels like something out of a mid-century soviet union. Paint is peeling away, it's muddy and any kid climbing the climbing bars risks a hard fall at the bottom. As the others have said - the area is full of kids and it's a shame to see this playground in such a shabby state of affairs. The prize money will go a long way to helping.

In the surrounding area to this park, there live a lot of younger children, who would definitely benefit from more play equipment being there-what is there is outdated and usually in use by someone else anyway. Children then have to wait their turn for quite a while then..
More equipment would save children and parents having to make the trip into town where it is busier (again more waiting around for the use of the equipment) and there is more traffic-which in itself is problematic.
A simple slide and roundabout, plus anything else really would suffice to turn this area into more than just 'land'..

This park really would benefit from some money being spent on renovating the playground. Children love going there to learn to ride bikes, scooters and play football, but unfortunately the playground is lacking in exciting, fun, vibrant play equipment.
If anything, it looks fairly depressing at the moment and you can understand why the children aren't overly (if at all) enthuisiastic to go on the swings or the tiny climbing frames. It really does need a complete revamp to make it a happy playground full of children playing

A whole generation of children in this area have learnt to ride their bikes and scooters in this park, and it is well-used during the summer months when children can roll around on the grass and explore behind the trees. But come autumn and winter, the park is empty. The play area is boring, uninspiring and unloved - children just don't want to play there. There are so many families living around this park, it should be busy all the time, but unless you take your bike you just don't want to go up there. There's a strange strip of concrete which was probably a base for something in the past, and the two climbing frames are possibly the most boring frames in the history of climbing frames! It's not a huge play area, but with the right equipment it would really help bring children back into the park and keep them there!
Our street use the park for our annual summer party (as part of The Big Lunch). It wouldn't take much to turn this park around and make it the focal point of the community again.

Playing is so important for little people this space holds very small opportunity for them to experiment, imagine or have active challenge. It would be so fantastic to ask youngsters what they would like to see happen and for all of us to help make somethingreally exciting happen here. It is such a dull playground.

Whilst my family adore Morley Park for bike and scooter riding they never want to play in the playground. When I have asked the kids why, they always reply that it is dirty and no fun and they would love to have more equipment to play on. It would be such a boost for the park and for all the children living nearby to have a well thought out, safe and fun play area.
