Best of the Web: Back to school

When the children go back to school, bloggers come out to play.

Best of the Web: Back to school

As the last of the little treasures finally skedaddles back to school, parents around the UK have only one thing on their mind - blogging. Honestly, what did we do before blogs came along? Probably boring stuff like ironing, that's what. Hurray for technology.

Over the summer I have been attempting to write a parenting book - which would have been a lot easier if the children hadn't got in the way. But without them there would have been no book, so karma-wise it all evens out.

Here's our round up of the best of the bloggers with something to say about going back to school:

It's woo hoo time!

Nicki at Curly and Candid greeted the back to school season with a giant WOO HOO and is either punching the air or doing a little dance in the photo. I can't decide which, what do you think? I'm hoping Nicki will clarify and admit that it's both.

Here on Ready for Ten, Jan kindly deciphered teacher-speak for us - it turns out that there's quite a gap between what teachers say and what they really mean. And Jayne pleaded with teachers to please give us parents a break. Amen to that.

Over achievers all round

Well done to Tara at Sticky Fingers, who survived the dreaded back to school shoe buying fandango. Many others were not so fortunate - I know a woman who went to buy school shoes in 2007 and was never heard of again.

Congratulations must also go to Yes We do have a TV! who's won her first Bad Mum Achievement Award of the term already - well done that mum!

Sue Atkins at Positive Parenting is spoiling us with a whole host of tips on how to be more organised when you're getting ready for school in the morning. It turns out you're not supposed to stay up late, then bung together a lunchbox with whatever's hanging around the kitchen five minutes before you need to leave. Took me years to learn that.

Christine at Thinly Spread marked the end of the summer with an adventure on the river, whilst Rosie Scribble is finding that being the child of a blogger is teaching her daughter as much as school ever could.

Time for a heated debate

Over at The Head's Office, a very interesting discussion was sparked about whether or not twins should be separated at school. What do you think? Would our pals Jedward have turned out so very different if they'd been allowed some independence?

You'll be glad to know that it is indeed both. I have room to practice my "Mummy Dance" now school has restarted.
    A great collection of posts!

Unfortunately I don't have the goods (clearly I mean the technical equipment!) to dance on screen. I'm not sure the world is ready for my Mummy Dance yet to be honest. It takes a very open mind to watch it and not be seriously affected!

We'll have to imagine your Mummy dance Nicki (I have a sneaky feeling I know what it looks like already though!)
