Welcome to our first crafting how-to video! These little people are fun to make and can be easily personalised to suit all kids' tastes.
This is a first for Ready for Ten and a first for me: a kitchen table video showing you how to do one of my most favourite crafts, making little people out of wire and other materials. Although you may need to buy a couple of the materials (easily found at any craft store), this craft is cheap to do and involves children in the kind of messy creative activity they love.
Here's what you need
- Wire
- Masking tape
- Mod rock / art rock
- Glue
- Newspaper
- Ribbon, pipe cleaners, paint and/or other embellishments
Video filmed on our Flip Video.
If you have any questions about the video please leave a comment below. Or perhaps you'd like to tell me your favourite craft or you may want to leave a link to pictures of any little wire people you've made – I'd love to see them.

You are all very kind, thank you. I found it surprisingly tricky as I talked too much. Oh and Jen, if you do make them, show me your creations. Would love to see!

Brilliant! I loved the giggle at the end too (and the blue ring!) oh, the the little people. I've always wanted to have a play with mod rock. Knowing my kids it'll be horses and dogs not people though.

You make it look so simple - both the little people and the Blue Peter-style demo. I might even consider it and I'm totally craft phobic.

Thank you all so much, was surprisingly nerve wracking (the posting not the filming).
Dan, BP have already been on the phone. Something about vacancies as presenters not wanting to move to Salford but I said I was too busy...;0)
Maggie, people are easy. Dogs and horses would probably be impossible for me to do! And Ellen, this is easy. Honestly. Even for craft phobics.
