Focus on a Parents for Playgrounds campaign winner: Ropsley Park
Since receiving up to £15,000 from Robinsons Fruit Shoot, our Parents for Playground winners have seen the wheels turning towards some brilliant improvements.
These are busy times at Ropsley Park, Lincolnshire. A small group of mums first set out to improve the park about four years ago. They were selected as a winner in our Parents for Playgrounds scheme. Campaigners split their activities, as they press for improvements at the site, into two phases. Now they are approaching completion of Phase One – and couldn't be more pleased.
Mum Sam Farakas explained that our £15,000 bursary was being used to spruce up a toddler area, with new swing and spider net and all are due for completion in the coming weeks.
"The community has pulled together, it has been great to see," said Sam.
"It's amazing to see how far we have come. We are hugely grateful for the Ready for Ten bursary.
"A local farmer has even joined in to help and to save money where we can.
"We're very close to the end of Phase One now. I can't wait to see the children enjoying the new facilities."
Nadia Moussa, Brand Manager for Robinsons Fruit Shoot says: “The Parents for Playgrounds campaign was designed to help parents preserve the important tradition of outdoor play for their children, so it’s great to know that parents and kids are still so passionate about their playgrounds. We want to give our five winners a playground to be proud of because all parents and all children deserve a natural and safe place to play outside. We’re looking forward to unveiling the playgrounds.”
"Renovations have been taking place throughout May, June and July and the playgrounds will be unveiled at the beginning of the 2011 summer holidays."
